Sewing Classes

Sewing Classes begin in February of 2011! Please contact me with questions or to arrange a lesson or book a class.


Individual Lessons:
We will be teaching basic sewing by creating a piece of modern or period clothing of your choice. Classes will be taught to multiple or individual students, and can take place in the evening or afternoon. Cost is $35.00 per student for up to a 3 hour lesson.


Period Clothing Weekend Classes:
Saturday classes are taught from 9:30am - 4:00pm at a cost $50.00 per session. Sunday classes are taught from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at a cost of $35.00 per session. Several classes are outlined below, although the creation of any period men's or boys fashions can be discussed.

#1 Basic Underpinnings
   For women or girls, 1860's drawers, chemise, and under-petticoat. (Expect approximately 12 hours of instruction.)

#2 Basic Underpinnings
   For women, kit of hoop, over-petticoat, camisole. (Expect approximately 12 hours of instruction.)

#3 Basic Everyday Dress
   For women or girls. (Expect approximately 20 hours of instruction.)


You will need to bring to class:

   ¤  The desire to learn how to sew
   ¤  A sewing machine*
   ¤  A brown bag lunch, tea/coffee/water will be provided
   ¤  A pattern for a garment you wish to make
   ¤  Enough fabric to complete your pattern

* I have extra sewing machines in the event you don't own a portable one.
